The Horror Mansion is online multiplayer survival horror/comedy: you share a compact haunted house with up to 25 players while killers rotate. As of August 2026 the live universe reports roughly 120 people playing at a snapshot and 67 million lifetime visits. That is a long-tail classic, not a front-page mega-CCU title—so grouping with friends takes a little intention. This page covers how to land in the same public server, what you cannot do (VIP servers are disabled), and how to call threats without wrecking each other’s desk perches.

Server rules that matter

• Max players: 25. Full servers feel chaotic in a tiny map; that is the joke and the danger.
• VIP / private servers: not allowed on the classic universe. You cannot buy a locked instance to farm Badges in peace.
• R6 morph. Avatars convert; do not expect R15 parkour tech from other experiences.
• Platforms: PC, Mac, mobile, Xbox via Roblox. Voice and text habits differ; agree on a call style before the first killer.

If your friend list shows them “in The Horror Mansion,” use Roblox’s Join on their profile rather than searching the experience and hoping matchmaking collides. With ~100–160 concurrent players most hours, random queues often split you.

How to actually play together

1. One player opens the official place: The Horror Mansion.
2. Friends join that person from the Roblox friends UI or server browser, not a second fresh Play click.
3. Confirm you see the same killer spawn and the same death chat—wrong place IDs happen because the sequel exists.
4. If you landed in The HORROR Mansion (place 2739808800, ~29 million visits, even lower CCU), say so immediately. Tone and killer curation differ; read Original vs Sequel.
5. Stay in the server between rounds. Reloading the experience can reshuffle you.

Low population is not a bug. It means a coordinated trio can dominate furniture and also means empty corners if you queue at odd hours. Check Changelog when the place timestamp moves; population spikes are rare.

Callouts that help instead of grief

• Name the behavior family, not only a meme title: chase, teleport, noclip. See Killer Behaviors.
• Call Limbless or ANGER44 by name when you are sure—those two punish stacked desks. Deep dives: Limbless, ANGER44.
• If you claim a computer-lab desk, say so. Two players on one perch is how both die to a wide hitbox.
• Do not drag a teleport killer across a teammate’s only exit. Kite toward hallways mapped in the Map Guide.

Comedy killers still end rounds. Laugh after you rotate, not while standing still for a clip.

What not to do with “friends tools”

Scripts that noclip or ESP your whole party can get everyone banned. Read Scripts as a warning page, not a shopping list. There are no active codes as of August 2026—see Codes. Do not share passwords to “party boosters.”

Practice plan for a friend group

Spend one session on Getting Started movement, one on Safe Zones with assigned desks, and one hunting Badges consecutive trophies. Use the Survival Checklist as a shared pre-round card. Rank personal nemeses on the Tier List Hub after the night.

Time zones, full servers, and mixed platforms

Peak hours still only show a few full 25-player instances. If Join fails, wait on the friend’s profile and retry rather than launching a second copy of the experience. Xbox and mobile friends should keep the Roblox app in the foreground so the instance does not migrate. Cross-play is native; the hard part is agreeing who is the host.

When a server is full, do not create a lookalike place search. Stay on place 522527978. If your group is split across original and sequel, pick one for the night using Original vs Sequel instead of hopping mid-round. Empty servers make Badges consecutive trophies easier but also make Meet an Admin almost impossible.

Voice chat is optional. Text callouts plus the Survival Checklist are enough. If someone wants executors “for the squad,” point them at Scripts and leave. Friendship is not a reason to share accounts.
